The Titlis cable car is a cable car in the Engelberg glacier ski area . It has been running in two sections since 1988 and 1992, from the Trübsee station, located above the Trüebsee , to the stand and on to the summit of the Kleiner Titlis, and is operated by Bergbahnen Engelberg-Trübsee-Titlis AG .

history

After the aerial tramway from Trübsee to the stand was built in 1988 , the Rotair was built four years later. The round, large-capacity gondola had a rotating floor. So the passengers got to see the complete all-round panorama during the journey. The Titlis-Rotair was the world's first aerial cableway with a rotating cabin floor. In November 2014, the gondolas were renewed, with these not only the floor, but the entire gondola rotates once around its own vertical axis during a journey. According to the cable cars, this also was a world first but also the cabins rotate the 2002 renewed cableway Malcesine-Monte Baldo Italian Malcesine on Lake Garda .

route

The cable car led from Trübsee, which can be reached from Engelberg via two sections of double cable cars, to the stand. From there, the Rotair leads away from the slopes over the glacier area and rocks over a single inclined support to the mountain station on the Kleiner Titlis, where since 2012 the 100 meter long Titlis Cliff Walk suspension bridge, the highest suspension bridge in Europe, has also been located.

Models

A model of this cable car can be seen in the Swissminiatur -Park and in the Miniatur Wunderland (H0 model by Brawa ), but in the Austrian section.
