Brawa ( spelling BRAWA ) is a model railroad manufacturer from Remshalden . Together with the companies Braunkabel , in-akustik and Eagle Cable , the company is now part of a medium-sized family-run group of companies.

history

In 1948 the company was founded by Artur Braun in Waiblingen (at that time still "Artur Braun from Waiblingen"). From Artur Bra un from Wa was iblingen 1956 "Brawa" Company ( Brawa Artur Braun Model Toy Factory GmbH + Co. ). In 1962, the company was converted into Brawa Artur Braun Modellspielwarenfabrik GmbH & Co. , based in Remshalden.

In 1963 the manufacture of model railway accessories was taken over by the Eheim company.

In 1970 the company relocated to Remshalden . The Braunkabel company for the manufacture of cables was also founded there.

The company developed from a supplier of simple accessories to a model manufacturer.

Luminaire models and accessories

The company initially specialized in model railway accessories such as lighting. For over 60 years, historical and modern lamp models for all sizes have been produced. Since 2007, many luminaires for the nominal size H0 (scale 1:87) , TT (1: 120) and N (1: 160) have been equipped with LED technology. A known product was the Brawa- sliding platform that existed for H0 and N.

Trolley buses

For a long time, Brawa produced functional model trolleybuses , the so-called "trolley buses". These were taken over by the Eheim company in 1963 and produced with revisions and program extensions until 2000. The trolleybuses of Era III were produced for the nominal sizes H0 ( HS 160 ) and N (Daimler-Benz), there were no new vehicle types. A replica of the Solingen trolleybuses, albeit without a drive, was made in 2005 by the companies Wilkinson and Stahlhaus located there.

Cableways

Brawa also made N and H0 models of cable cars. These products were also taken over by Eheim ( Lorenseilbahn , Schauinslandbahn , chairlift , Kanzelwandbahn ) and further developed, such as models of the Stuttgart funicular railway (H0m and N) and the Nebelhornbahn . In these models, the cable car was offered separately from the buildings so that the customer could use his own building. This was followed by the Titlis cable car with a moving platform and rotating gondolas. The Hahnenkammbahn from Kitzbühel for H0 was announced for 2010 , but the delivery was postponed again and again and finally took place from May 2013. In this segment there has been competition with the Austrian Jägerndorfer GmbH since 2012 , when this first H0 model of a single-cable gondola brought out.

Locomotives and wagons

Rolling stock has also been manufactured since 1993. H0 gauge models are available for both DC and AC systems. The model range includes locomotives , wagons and accessories in nominal sizes 0, H0, TT, N and Z. from all eras. Since 2010, 0-gauge models have also been available.

Conflicts

The company was affected by the conflict with the Chinese manufacturer Kader Industrial Company Ltd. , who bought Brawa's former main supplier Sanda Kan in November 2008 and terminated all contracts in June 2010. The 80 affected customers were asked for higher prices and quantities.
