Alena Brawa

Alena Walerjeuna Brawa ( Belarusian Алена Валер'еўна Брава , Russian Алена Валерьевна Браво ; born August 18, 1966 in Baryssau , Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Belarusian writer who currently lives in Baryssau.

life and work

She comes from a salaried family, graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at the Belarusian State University , lived with her husband and daughter in Cuba until 1990 . She currently works as deputy editor-in-chief of the local newspaper Adzinstva (= unit).

She wrote poetry as a student and is the author of the volume of poetry На глыбіні каранёў (In the depths of the roots, 2002). She has published in several Belarusian literary magazines and is represented in the anthologies Апавяданне - 2005 (story 2005) and І зоркі над Бярэзінай - ракой (And the stars over the Bjaresina river ). She was awarded the Hlinjany Vales , a literary prize in Belarus, for the volume of short stories Каменданцкі час для ластавак (curfew for swallows, Mastackaja Litadela Verlag , 2004) .
