Titus Orbius Priscinus

Titus Orbius Priscinus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd or 3rd century AD .

A dedicatory inscription on an altar, which was found at the Lavatrae fort and which is dated to 171/230, shows that Priscinus was prefect . According to John Spaul and RIB, he was prefect of the Cohors I Thracum , stationed in the province of Britannia .

Remarks

  1. The name is incomplete in the inscription, so that there are different suggestions for the name. The reading at EDCS is T (itus) [] rbius Pri [] nus . RIB adds the name to Titus Orbius Priscinus but maintains instead Orbius also Urbius and instead Priscinus also Primianus possible. John Spaul gives the name with Titus Orbius Primianus .
