Tjøtta is an island and a place on this, on the Norwegian Helgeland coast , on which about 300 inhabitants live, which is located in the municipality of Alstahaug . The town of Sandnessjøen is the center of the municipality, about 40 kilometers from Tjøtta. Tjøtta is of great historical importance. Many Norwegians know Øyvind Skaldespiller and his son, Hårek, who come from Tjøtta. Hårek fought the Stiklestad battle in 1030 .

The Russian War Cemetery Tjøtta (1953) and the International War Cemetery Tjøtta (1970) are located on the island .
