The Tlačová agentúra Slovenskej republiky , German press agency of the Slovak Republic , abbreviated TASR , is a Slovak press agency . Its seat is in Bratislava .
The agency began in 1992, when the independent Slovak agency Česko-slovenská tlačová kancelária Slovenskej republiky was established on April 1st with Act 81/1992 Coll., Before the break-up of Czechoslovakia - originally as part of an intended federalization of the state-wide Československá tisková kancelář (provided for in Law 310 of October 1, 1991). After Slovakia was founded in 1993, the agency used the name Tlačová agentúra Slovenskej republiky - Slovakia . It was purely governmental. In order to counter allegations of distortion of competition compared to the private agency SITA , which was founded in 1997 , it was reorganized as an independent public media company on 23 September 2008 with Act 385/2008 Zz.
The legal person TASR is registered in the commercial register and was established by law. At the top is a director general elected by the TASR board of directors.
In addition to a database and an archive of agency reports, the TASR offers a photo, audio and video service.
