To The Abandoned Sacred Beasts ( Japanese か つ て 神 だ っ た 獣 た ち へ , Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e , dt. "To the beasts that were once gods") is a manga series by the cartoonist duo Maybe , which has been in Japan since 2014 appears. The work can be classified into the genres Fantasy , Action and Shōnen .

In the war of the southern states against the northern states, the people relied on warriors who were given supernatural abilities through dark magic. The use of these so-called "false gods" soon led to the end of the war and the soldiers were worshiped by the people for bringing them peace. But after a while their deeds were forgotten and the false gods were overwhelmed by their powers and became monsters that haunt people.

Nancy Charl Bancroft is the daughter of one of the monsters, her father was killed by the beast hunter. Now Charl goes in search of the beast hunter to avenge her father. When she finally finds it, however, it is far too strong for her. She also learns that the hunter, Hank, used to be the commander himself of the soldiers who have now become beasts. So he is now roaming the country to kill his former comrades. Charl decides to come with him and learn more about the monsters.

The series has been published in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine by Kōdansha in Japan since June 2014 . The chapters are also published in ten anthologies so far. The fifth volume sold over 44,000 copies in the first two weeks of its release.

A German translation has been published by Carlsen Manga in a translation by Yuko Keller since April 2017, currently in seven volumes. An English version is published by Vertical.
