Tobias Becker (DJ)

Tobias Becker (born October 30, 1978 in Duisburg ) is a German DJ and artist in the field of electronic music and operator of the label "Platzhirsch". His music is assigned to the genre minimal techno.

Live and act

Tobias Becker moved to Rheinbach in his youth and graduated from the Rheinbach municipal high school. By winning the Jugend musiziert competition , the city of Neuss granted him a scholarship to study music. He played the baritone in a Neuss big band . In 1997 he switched to electronic music.

In the winter of 1998 he began to work as a disc jockey , equipped with two turntables and a mixer . In 2000 he was employed by the Arttheater discotheque as a resident DJ. In 2001 he began an apprenticeship as a banker. After three years as a resident DJ in the Arttheater, Becker switched to the Düsseldorf Club Harpune , which he employed from April 2003. At the end of 2003 he founded the label "Platzhirsch Schallplatten". Since March 2004, Platzhirsch 's productions have been distributed worldwide via the international label Kompakt . The magazine Groove assigned the first catalog number "Äser Ep" to the seventh place in their charts. Groove readers voted the top dog label tenth among the best national labels. “Äser Ep” took first place in the label's sales charts. In mid-2005 Becker founded the sub-label "Kahlwild", which is responsible for the production of minimalist pieces. In Cologne he regularly organizes the event "Platzhirsch-Klause", to which he invites well-known DJs and also plays himself. He currently works in the compact record store.
