Toby Martins

Toby Martins (born February 22, 1953 ) is a German-speaking author who is best known for thrillers and detective novels .

Toby Martins came to Stuttgart with his parents (his father was French, his mother German) when he was eleven. After graduating from school, he studied law , psychology and history in Tübingen, Göttingen, Freiburg and Austin (Texas). He has been working as a freelance writer since 1983 , publishing specialist publications and contributing to screenplays .

Under the pseudonym Brian Abercrombie, he published a thriller trilogy in the early 1990s, with which he made a name for himself with readers and critics. The first volume Hoffmann appeared in 1991 in Russian translation by the Quadrat publishing house in Moscow.

At the end of the 1990s Martins moved to Bremen and started a crime novel series about the psychologist and amateur detective Amos Dystwater.

Toby Martins lives with his wife half of the year in Tenerife and half in Bremen. He is a member of the crime writers' association Das Syndikat .
