Tochihuitzin Coyolchiuhqui
Tochihuitzin Coyolchiuhqui was an Aztec poet and philosopher. According to the Mexican anthropologist and historian Miguel León-Portilla , he was the son of the ruler Itzcóatl and was born in Tenochtitlán . He lived from the end of the 14th to the middle of the 15th century. In his youth he is said to have been heavily influenced by Nezahualcóyotl .
One of his poems, which he wrote around 1419, reads:
- We just came
- to see a dream image, we are
- just come to dream, not really,
- we didn't really come
- to live on earth.
