Hayakawa Tokuji

Hayakawa Tokuji ( Japanese 早川 徳 次 ; * November 3, 1893 ; † June 24, 1980 ) was the founder of the Japanese electronics company Sharp Electronics (formerly Hayakawa Electronics) in Osaka .

Hayakawa founded a metal factory in Tokyo in 1912 and produced belt buckles. In 1915, he invented the world's first modern mechanical pencil, called "Ever-Sharp", from which the company's later name is derived.
