Tom Turesson

Tom Turesson (born May 17, 1942 , † December 13, 2004 ) was a Swedish football player and coach .

career

Turesson played in his youth at IK Rex and Vendel tom in 1960 before making his debut in the men's team at Hammarby IF in 1961 . He was active for the club until 1968 and then moved to Belgium for Club Bruges . In his two years abroad he managed to win a cup. In 1970 he returned to Sweden and played for Hammarby IF until 1976. In total, he played 227 games in the Allsvenskan and scored 49 goals.

Turesson played 22 times for the Swedish national team and scored nine international goals. With the country selection he took part in the 1970 World Cup and scored his only tournament goal in the 1-1 draw with Israel . Because of the poorer goal difference against Uruguay , he had to leave early with the team as third in the group.

After the end of his active career, he took over the coaching position at Hammarby IF. In 1978 he had to give up the post for health reasons. Because of kidney failure, the organ had to be transplanted several times.
