Tomba della Caccia al Cervo
The Etruscan Tomba della Caccia al Cervo (“Tomb of the Deer Hunt”) was found in 1960 in the Monterozzi necropolis in Tarquinia . It is a painted underground burial chamber that can be entered via a staircase. The paintings are no longer well preserved today. The grave dates to around 450 BC. Chr. And is named after a scene in the gable of the back wall, which shows a deer hunt on the red background of the painted support pillars of the ceiling. On the back wall below is a banquet scene with three Klinen . Musicians and dancers can be seen on the side walls between small trees. The paintings have a lot in common with those in the Tomba Maggi and may therefore come from the same workshop.
