Brian Epstein discovered Tommy Quickly when he was still in Liverpool as the singer of the band The Challengers . Epstein saw potential in Quickly, but not in his band and therefore suggested that the group be renamed Tommy Quickly and the Stops . Ultimately, Epstein had his protégé accompanied by the band The Remo Four . He also urged Quickly to interpret pop songs, although his voice was more suitable for rhythm and blues . The first single, which appeared in August 1963 under the name Tommy Quickly, was called Tip of my Tongue - a previously unreleased Lennon / McCartney composition. Quickly then went on an extensive promotional tour. However, the single turned out to be a flop, and Tip of my Tongue remained the only Lennon / McCartney composition that did not make it into the UK charts. Three more unsuccessful singles followed. Only the fifth single Wild Side of Life was placed in October 1964 at number 33 in the British singles charts. A sixth single was unsuccessful. Quickly - who seemed overwhelmed by show business - then withdrew completely from the music business in 1965.
