Turkish for lovers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Turkish for Lovers is a singspiel by Sinem Altan (music) and Dilek Güngör (text) using the original score of the little-known singspiel The Benevolent Dervish (1791). The world premiere took place on December 4th, 2008 at the Neukölln Opera . The contemporary reception saw a new genre emerge in the stage work, namely the “contemporary Singspiel from the spirit of the Turkish opera of the 18th century” (BZ).
