Dilek Güngör

Dilek Güngör (* 1972 in Schwabisch Gmund ) is a German journalist , columnist and book author .

Life

Güngör, who completed a Catholic education, first completed a degree in translation for English and Spanish in Germersheim with a diploma. After completing a postgraduate course in journalism at the University of Mainz , Güngör began working as a journalist for the Berliner Zeitung in 1998 , for which she initially worked until 2003. To this day, she continues to write glosses about German- Turkish life in Germany, which are extremely popular with readers , and which are often based on the experiences of her own family for the Berliner Zeitung .

In 2003/2004 Güngör completed a master's degree in Race and Ethnic Studies at the University of Warwick in England .

Güngörs collected glosses from the Berliner Zeitung appeared in book form for the first time in 2004 under the title Unter uns . In addition to her journalistic work, the author is known for numerous readings.

In 2007 Güngör published her first novel The Secret of My Turkish Grandmother at Piper . In the same year, further glosses by the author, which have since appeared in the Stuttgarter Zeitung, appeared in the volume Ganz Schön deutsch .

In 2008 Güngör wrote the libretto for the Singspiel Turkish for Lovers, which was performed in the Neukölln Opera in 2008/2009 (music: Sinem Altan ).

Since October 2009 Güngör has had a regular column in the Monday editions of the Berliner Zeitung .

Her second novel Ich bin Özlem was published in February 2019 , about which Arno Widmann wrote in the Frankfurter Rundschau : “A great litter. Especially now right in the middle of the proliferating identity speeches. ”The essayist Mithu Sanyal said the novel was“ crystal clear observed, self-critical and sovereign ”, and in April 2019 on WDR 5 it was named“ Book of the Week ”.
