Tommy Scheel (born February 1, 1980 in Düsseldorf ) is a German TV journalist and presenter.

Career

Scheel graduated from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Essen-Bredeney in 2000. From 2002 to 2006 he studied theater studies and Romance studies at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). During his studies he went to the Universidad Complutense (UCM) in Madrid for a year with a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the European Excellence Program (EEP).

After completing his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, Scheel went to Munich in 2006 to complete a one-year full-time course in television journalism at the Bavarian Academy for Television (BAF).

In addition to his work as a freelance author and editor for various TV production companies in Munich, between 2007 and 2012 he worked as a reporter for Wir in Bayern (BR), ML Mona Lisa (ZDF), bild.de , Item 12 (RTL), Die Johannes B. Kerner Show (Sat1), FÜNF DINGE (Motorvision) and the car magazine Turbo (Sport1). In 2011 and 2012 he was also a reporter for the knowledge magazine Galileo (Pro7) worldwide. For the same broadcaster he was on the live show Elton zockt! as an outside reporter in action.

His breakthrough came with the TV broadcaster DMAX when he got his first own show in 2013 with the travel format Eine Stadt, ein Tag, ein Mann . His willingness to try daring and crazy things finally brought him after two 2 seasons at the same station another format called Der Hobbyist - Deutschland Has Freizeit , where he got to know and tried out the most extraordinary hobbies of the Germans in 2013 and 2014, also in two seasons.

In 2013, Scheel hosted the four-part game show Clash! Boom! Bang !, which he hosted on Pro7 on Saturday evening together with taff presenter Nela Pangy Lee .

Tommy Scheel is now mainly active in children's television. He has been moderating the experiment show Checkpoint since 2014 on behalf of ZDF in the fifth season for KIKA. As a result of the popularity of the format, Scheel conducted a 90-minute special broadcast with an audience in 2016 and 2018, which was also broadcast on KIKA . Scheel was awarded the Golden Sparrow in 2016 for the program Checkpoint - The Great CO2 Battle .

For his ZDF telecast Crass Colossi of Moderator in 2015 and 2016 traveled around the world to his TV audience to present the largest construction equipment in the world. Broadcast Adventure for its Outside sleep - the bed struggle , stayed for Tommy Scheel in 2017 with young people commissioned by ZDF in extraordinary places under partly extreme conditions, he was in 2018 with both the Golden Sparrow and the Emil magazine TV Spielfilm Award .

Since the end of 2016, Scheel has been running the consumer magazine Abenteuer Leben am Sonntag on Kabel1 every Sunday at 10:15 p.m. as the successor to Andreas Türck .

He also regularly represents his colleague Seraphina Kalze at Adventure Life on a daily basis.

Scheel has been the live face of the Kabel1 channel since 2019 and runs through the formats Bundespolizei LIVE and Notaufnahme LIVE during prime time.

Tommy Scheel is married and lives in Munich with his wife Susanne Scheel and their three children.
