Thomas Palmer "Tommy" Thompson (born August 15, 1995 in Loomis ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a striker . He is currently under contract with the San José Earthquakes .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Thompson played a year at Indiana University , where he scored five goals in twelve games and prepared another. Before that, he was active in the Development Academy program of the San Jose Earthquakes.

Club career

On March 14, 2014, he signed a professional contract under the Homegrown Player Rule with the San José Earthquakes . Thompson played his first competitive game on June 7, 2014, when he came on in the 89th minute in the 0-1 loss to Toronto FC .

On June 26, he was loaned to the United Soccer League at Sacramento Republic . Due to an agreement between the Earthquakes and Sacramento, he played several times for the team from the US third division in the following years.

Private

Thompson is the son of former US national player Gregg Thompson .
