Tomonobu Shimizu

Tomonobu Shimizu ( jap. 清水智信 , Shimizu Tomonobu * 28. June 1981 in Fukui ) is a Japanese politician and former boxer in the super flyweight .

Sports career

In 2004 he started his professional career after an amateur record of 68-10. On August 31, 2011 he boxed against Hugo Fidel Cázares for the world championship title of the WBA association and won by a split judge's decision. He lost this title in his first title defense in April of the following year to Tepparith Kokietgym by knockout.

After that defeat, he ended his career in which 19 wins faced four lost fights.

In 2012 he ended his sports career.

In April 2015 he ran as an independent candidate in the Fukui constituency for the prefectural parliament to which he was successfully elected.
