Tomtbod

Tomtbod , south of Burs , northeast of Ronehamn , is one of the best-preserved fishing spots (in Swedish fiskeläge ) on Gotland . It is located on the southeast coast of the Swedish island.

The approximately 30 fishermen's buden ( Swedish Bodarna ), the net garden ( Swedish gistgardar ) and the slipways ( Swedish länningar ) for mooring remained unchanged, some were converted into docks. Fishing still takes place in Tomtbod in autumn. Flounder, cod and whitefish are the most common catches. The stalls made of stone or wood are used for materials and tools, but also for leisure purposes.

In 2014 a Viking Age silver fibula was found in Tomtbod , which is decorated with around ten dragons. An archaeological follow-up investigation did not reveal any further findings; the fibula was probably brought here with the surrounding soil.
