Johannes Hösle

Johannes Hösle (born February 25, 1929 in Erolzheim near Biberach an der Riss ; † December 29, 2017 in Regensburg ) was a German Romance studies and literary scholar .

Life

Johannes Hösle received his doctorate in comparative literature from the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in 1954 . From 1955 to 1965 he worked as a university lecturer in Milan . From 1961 to 1965 he was also the director of the Goethe Institute in Milan and the director of the German library there. In 1967 he qualified as a professor for Romance philology in Tübingen and in 1968 was appointed professor of Romance literature at the University of Regensburg .

He has published several books and written numerous essays on recent and contemporary literature.

He had been with Carla Hösle, b. Gronda married. The couple had three children, including the philosopher Vittorio Hösle .
