Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen (born February 23, 1966 in Bærum ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre party . Since March 2018 she has been the President of the Norwegian Parliament in Storting .

Origin and education

Trøen is the daughter of the factory manager John Willy Wilhelmsen (1928–2012) and the secretary Anne-Marie Christiansen (1929–2017). From 1986 she worked in various positions as a secretary. Between 1997 and 1999 she attended several courses at the BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo . From 1998 to 2002 she worked as HR manager and then until 2008 as project and department manager. From 2008 to 2011 she studied at Akershus University , from where she obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing. She then worked as a nurse until 2013.

Political career

From 1987 to 1994 Trøen was a member of the local parliament of the municipality of Nes . In the years 1995 to 1999 and between 2003 and 2011 she was a member of the Eidsvoll local council .

In the 2013 parliamentary elections , Trøen first moved into Storting for its home province of Akershus . There she was a member of the health committee until September 2017. Between October 2017 and March 2018 she was the chair of the Committee on Family and Culture. On March 15, 2018, she was elected President of Parliament with 152 out of 154 possible votes. Trøen became the President of Parliament with the shortest experience as a Member of Parliament since the First World War . She now heads the election committee.

Positions

Trøen belongs to the conservative wing of their party. For example, she refuses to legalize egg donation .
