Tongaat Hulett is a South African sugar producer. The company produces cane sugar as well as starch and glucose from corn and is the largest private employer in Mozambique and Zimbabwe . Tongaat Hulett owns sugar factories in KwaZulu-Natal (Maidstone, Darnall, Amatikulu, Felixton), Mozambique (Xinavane, Mafambisse) and Zimbabwe ( Triangle ).
In the 2014/15 season, 1.314 million tons of sugar were produced.
The products from Mozambique and Zimbabwe enjoy duty-free access to the European internal market due to the EU-ACP agreement .
