Tongzhou (Nantong)

Tongzhou ( 通州 区 , Tōngzhōu Qū ) is a district of the district-free city of Nantong in the Chinese province of Jiangsu at the mouth of the Yangtze River . Tongzhou has an area of ​​1,343 km² and a population of around 1.2714 million (2004). The main town is the large community of Jinsha ( 金沙 镇 ). The former independent city of Tongzhou was converted into the Tongzhou District with effect from March 31, 2009.
