Toni Hermanns

Toni Hermanns (* 1915 in Goch ; † 2007 ) was a German architect .

Life

Hermanns studied architecture at the Technical University of Aachen from 1934 to 1939 . From 1939 to 1941 he worked as a research assistant at Benno Schachner 's chair . He also worked from 1941 to 1942 as an architect and site manager for the construction company Philipp Holzmann AG. After military service and captivity (1942-1945) he became in 1945 head of the municipal planning office in Kleve . He was later appointed to Goch as a town planner. He relocated his architecture office to Kleve in the 1950s. During these years he also did his doctorate under Benno Schachner. Since then he has worked as a freelance architect.

Toni Hermanns died in 2007. The estate was included in the Archive for Architecture and Engineering in North Rhine-Westphalia . His son Hannes Hermanns took over the architecture office in Kleve.

Toni Hermann's most important buildings include the Liebfrauenkirche in Duisburg on König-Heinrich-Platz and the station reception building in Goch . He also built two other churches in Duisburg, the St. Barbara Church in Duisburg-Rheinhausen , which was listed as a historical monument in 2015, and St. Nikolaus in Duisburg-Buchholz. The St. Raphael Church in Wolfsburg , which he designed, was built from 1971 to 1973 . In total, he was involved in 109 church buildings in the post-war period.
