Toni Marí Sart
Toni Marí Sart (actually: Antonio Marí Sart; born November 10, 1963 in Xàbia ) is a Spanish sculptor, sculptor and iron sculptor in Xàbia on the Costa Blanca.
life and work
Born and raised in Xàbia with his father (bricklayer), mother (housewife) and sister Maria. He started working with metal, wire and wood at the age of five. At the age of 14, after compulsory schooling, he worked in a locksmith's shop and learned the craft of blacksmithing. At the age of 22 he opened his own locksmith's shop in Xàbia . For the space in front of his studio he made an iron donkey. Because the city refused permission, the sculpture could not be placed. In parallel to his work as a locksmith, he created other sculptures, first on behalf of private individuals, then by municipalities and for exhibitions. At the age of 38 he concentrated on the artistic work. Since 2013 his studio has been on the outskirts of the city of Xàbia. The plastic of the whale is clearly visible from the street.
Preferred forms
Since childhood, his preferred forms have been animals. He started working the bull in different positions (standing, running, sitting, sleeping). The shapes of the donkey, the fish, the goat and the bird were added later. At the age of 33, Toni Marí started realizing human forms. The seer and the runner are known. His forms, whether animal or human, always appear three-dimensional.
