Tonny Landy (civil Nuppenau ; born July 30, 1937 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish tenor and actor .

Life

Tonny Landy is the son of company representative Kay Nuppenau († 1991) and his wife Monna Jensen († 1976). He is married to the opera singer and actress Tove Hyldgaard .

Landy made his debut as an opera singer at the Royal Theater ( Det Kongelige Teater ) in Copenhagen in 1966 in the role of Alfredo in La traviata . He sang in several operas in Lübeck at the Theater Lübeck and nine years at the Opera in Gothenburg . Since 1978 he was permanently engaged at the Royal Theater and played there until 1994, where he appeared in 700 performances in 40 different productions. From 1980 to 1994 he was director of the Operaakademiet (Copenhagen Opera Academy) and has taught singing at the Det Kongelige Danske Music Conservatory (Royal Danish Music Conservatory) in Copenhagen and at the Det Jyske Music Conservatory ( The Jutian Music Conservatory ; functional: State University of Music ) in Aarhus since 1986 . From 1992 to 1999 he appeared at the Danish TV broadcaster DK4 as an opera and singing expert and worked there in the television series Sangernes Værksted (German singer workshop ). He and his wife have been performing as a musical couple for many years. He has also appeared as an actor in several Danish films and television series.

In 1977 he was made a knight of the Dannebrogden .
