Tony Buckingham
Anthony Leslie Rowland "Tony" Buckingham is a British entrepreneur who owns several security and mining companies. He is particularly active in areas of civil war, where military companies such as Executive Outcomes and Sandline International fight and guard oil fields and mines which are then exploited by the extractive companies.
Life
Buckingham worked as an industrial diver on the drilling rigs in the North Sea . He founded Heritage Oil in Canada in the early 1990s , where he is also chairman of the board. Heritage Oil has exploration concessions in the West Rift of the East African Trench , probably the most oil-rich area in Africa, and produces oil in Angola , the Republic of the Congo , the Democratic Republic of the Congo , Uganda , Rwanda , Burundi , Tanzania and Sudan .
Companies
Buckingham has a significant influence in a number of companies that deal with the extraction of raw materials in Africa, especially in crisis areas. This includes:
- Branch Energy ; Diamond concessions in Angola and Sierra Leone
- Indigo Sky Gems , co-owned with Russell Hay , has exclusive tourmaline exploration rights in Namibia
- Sandline International, Private security and military companies , the u. a. was involved in numerous wars in Africa
- Executive Outcomes (EO), South African security and military company whose first major contract was to clear Heritage Oil's oil depots in Angola. Then became an important managing director of the company.
