Anthony Robert "Tony" Dorigo (born December 31, 1965 in Melbourne ) is a former English football player with Australian roots.

life and career

The native Australian began his career at Aston Villa in 1983 . Dorigo played in left-back position. In 1987 he joined Chelsea for £ 475,000 . In his first season for the Blues, he was recognized by fans as the best player on the team. After some disputes, the Englishman was kicked out of the London squad in 1991 and moved to Leeds United for a transfer fee of £ 1.3 million , with whom he remained loyal for six years. After a year in Italy at Torino Calcio , he played two seasons at Derby County and one season at Stoke City . Internationally he played 15 times for the English national soccer team , he made his debut in 1989 against the Yugoslav national soccer team . He took part in the European Football Championship in Germany in 1988 . Without a single use, he was eliminated with the team in the group stage. He was also in the successful World Cup squad for England in 1990 in Italy, which finished fourth. Dorigo was used in the game for third place against Italy . Today he is an analyst at the English TV broadcaster Bravo and owns a lifestyle management company called "The 1 Club".
