In the historical film The Birth of a Nation from 2016, he got his first film role and played in flashbacks the slave boy and young protagonist of the film Nat Turner . In 2016 came guest appearances in the television series Uncle Buck and Criminal Minds .

Espinosa appeared in two episodes on the Snowfall television series . In the film Suburbicon by George Clooney , which was presented at the Venice Film Festival in September 2017 , he got the role of Andy Myers.
