Coordinates: 31 ° 33 ′ S , 116 ° 28 ′ E The Shire of Toodyay is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 1694 km² and has about 4500 inhabitants (2016).
Toodyay borders the capital Perth in the southwest and is about 70 kilometers from the city center. The seat of the Shire Council is in the town of Toodyay, where about 1000 inhabitants live (2016).

The Toodyay Council has nine members. The Councilors are elected by the residents of the four wards (three from the West and two each from the East, North and Central Ward). The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
