Toperczer, also Topperczer, Toperczer from Toporcz or Toperczer de Sárosorosz et Ugornya is the name of a Hungarian noble family. The family was the late 17th century as a noble of Toperczer ennobled .

origin

The Toperczer family is a noble family from Zips county . Already in 1524 a Johann Toperczer was mentioned in a document as a citizen of the free royal city of Leutschau (today Levoča ). Another Johann Toperczer appears in 1562 as a citizen of Eperjes (today Prešov ) and in 1563 as a notary and envoy from Seita von Eperjes.

On September 19, 1686, in Vienna, Emperor Leopold I bought Johann Toperczer as the main purchaser and Adels- u as secondary purchaser for his wife Dorothea Kurcz and the children Tobias, Daniel, Maria, Eva, Dorothea and Elisabeth. Letter of arms awarded.

On December 5, 1722, King Charles III. the letter of nobility and coat of arms to Martin Cornides as the main purchaser and for his sons Martin and Thomas, as well as for his son-in-law Jacob Topperczer as a secondary purchaser.

Paul Toperczer dropped out at the age of 20 and started a military career with his uncle, Paul Kray von Krajowa . On September 8, 1795, he was knighted by Emperor Franz I for his heroism and given the nickname Todtenfeld. Paul dies of his injuries in 1796.

Joseph Toperczer, as administrator of the diocese of Nagyvárad (today Oradea ), received from King Francis II on August 19, 1805 a nobility renewal, coat of arms, title and property in Sárosorosz and Ugornya. Joseph is the founder of the Bihar branch of the family. His grandson Eugen Toperczer de Sárosorosz et Ugornya becomes mayor of Nagyvárad and an imperial councilor.
