Topper is a plum variety that was bred by Helmut Jacob in 1988 at the Geisenheim research institute .

Yield and Varieties

It brings high and regular yields, is slow-growing and is sharka-tolerant . It is well suited for the home garden .

The variety was created in 1988 at the Geisenheim Research Station from a cross between the parent varieties Čačaks Beste and Auerbacher . The Plant Variety Protection was requested 1996th It is weak-growing, blooms mid-late and is self-fertilizing. It is relatively insensitive to rain and frost. The fruit ripens late, with or after the house plum .

The fruit is medium to large in size, elongated, blue and fragrant. The flesh is yellow and easily removes stones, while being firm and juicy. The fruit can be stored well. The taste is very good and aromatic. The fruit yield starts very early and is very high and regular. If the fruit yield is very high, however, the aroma suffers, which is why thinning is recommended in this case .

Topper is not very susceptible to disease, which means that the variety has good leaf and wood health and is only slightly susceptible to Monilia . The fruit is tolerant of Sharka disease . In some years the variety tends to double fruit, which is not a problem in the home garden.
