Toppola on a Saab 99L

The Toppola was a small living room cabin for hatchback sedans.

The Toppola could be used in the cargo area of the vehicle after the tailgate was removed. It offered the possibility of converting a car into a " mobile home " in a relatively inexpensive way . The installation of the 115 kg Toppola took less than half an hour for experienced users. Despite its small external dimensions, it offered a sleeping area of around 1.7 by 2.0 meters. The sleeping alcove protruded to about the beginning of the windshield on the hood of the vehicle. With an interior height of 2 meters, you could stand comfortably in the living room. Even the installation of a kitchen or heating was possible.

Originally the Toppola was made for the Saab 99 , later matching models for the Saab 900 , Saab 9000 and Saab 9-3 followed . Toppolas was also produced for the Ford Sierra and Ford Scorpio . The manufacturer was the Swedish company Scando. This stopped the Toppola production in 2006. It is unclear whether it will continue to be produced in the future.
