Berger Jørgensen gate

Tor Berger Jørgensen (born December 27, 1945 in Oslo ) is a bishop emeritus of the Lutheran Church of Norway .

Life

After finishing school, Jørgensen studied theology at the private theological college ( Det teologiske Menighetsfakultet ) in Oslo . In 1972 he achieved the theological doctorate. Jørgensen worked as a mission pastor in Japan for the mission society Norske Misjonsselskab (NMS) for over 15 years . From 1991 to 1999 Jørgensen was Secretary General of the NMS, from 2000 Jørgensen Dompropst in Bodø . Jørgensen was appointed bishop in the Sør-Hålogaland diocese in September 2006 and in January 2007.

He advocated church blessing for same-sex couples .
