Tor Torkildsen

Tor Torkildsen (born June 3, 1932 in Trondheim , † July 8, 2006 ) was a Norwegian seaman, shipowner and author. After a long life on ships and in shipping companies, Torkildsen made his debut as an author in 1994 with the novel Stella Baltica . In the further course he wrote about 30 books. The content of the books is based on his experiences from his work: shipping company and boats, ports and seas.

Life

Tor Torkildsen was born into a seafaring family. Father and grandfather were sea captains and Torskildsen was trained to take over the shipping company in his hometown. Before he became head of the shipping company in 1961, he had worked in the maritime sector in London , Santos , Jakarta and Oslo . Torkildsen operated the shipping company from 1961 to 77. He then operated a leisure port in Scotland from 1977 to 83 and worked as export manager for an electronics company. In 1989, at the age of 57, he became unemployed. From then on he became more seriously engaged in writing.

In the last few years he lived in Trondheim for half a year and in Thailand for the other half year.
