The Fournier torenie ( Torenia fournieri ) is a species of the genus Torenia .

features

The Fournier torenie is an annual plant that reaches heights of 20 to 30 centimeters. The stem is erect-ascending and square. The leaves are stalked, triangular-lanceolate and sharply serrate . The flowers are two-lipped, the upper lip is divided and the lower lip in three parts. The corolla-tube is yellow at the base, otherwise blue, reddish or white with a yellow spot on the lower lip.

The flowering period extends from July to September.

Occurrence

The Fournier torenie occurs in forests in South Vietnam .

use

The Fournier torenie is used as an ornamental plant for balconies, borders and planters. It has been in culture since 1876 at the latest. There are varieties with different flower colors.
