The Altsevo peat narrow gauge railway ( Russian Узкоколейная железная дорога Альцевского / Uskokoleinaja schelesnaja doroga Alzeskowo torfopredprijatija; also Altsevo peat narrow gauge railway ) is a non-public narrow gauge railway in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in Russia , Pizhma River .

history

The line with a gauge of 750 mm, which was opened in 1966 after the project planning began in 1962 and construction began in 1964, connects the urban-type Pischma settlement with the Alzewski Moch peat bog area, according to which the current operator Alzewo-torf ( Russian ООО «Альцево-торф» , GmbH ) is named. It is used to transport peat to the new peat processing factory (peat factory) built in 2005 and to transport workers.
