description

It is a usually 8-12 cm wide, about 1 m long strip, sometimes made of plastic or aluminum sheet , usually made of stainless steel sheet . In contrast to the springform pan , in which cakes or cake bases are baked, the cake ring has no base and can usually be adjusted to different diameters by clamping or slotting at the ends. Fixed cake rings in different diameters are used in the professional sector, for example for tiered cakes (for example: wedding cakes ).

Baking frames are used to make square cakes or pies .

use

The cake ring is placed around the pre-baked cake base. While the icing is usually spoon-wise spread over the fruit in simple fruit cakes , creating an uneven surface from which individual fruits often protrude, a cake ring can be used to produce thicker layers of icing with a flat surface. The cake ring prevents the icing from running down the edge. After the icing has solidified and cooled, the cake ring can simply be removed. In many cases, it also serves as a transport lock.

With cream cakes, the cake ring makes layering and filling easier, for example with cream cakes. Lightly greasing and sprinkling with powdered sugar makes it easier to remove the ring from the cake later.

With a flat, unperforated patisserie sheet as the base, the metal cake ring can also be used to bake cake bases. Springform pans are common for this in private households . Their jammed bottom makes them safer against leaking.
