Pie slice

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cake slice or cake topping disc is a base for transporting or stabilizing cakes . In addition to the pie slices (Cake Drums) , there are also Cake plates (Cake boards) . Often these terms are also used synonymously , so that it is hardly possible to differentiate between the individual variants.

A cake slice is a piece of cardboard that is often covered with foil . It can be more than an inch thick and guarantees high strength . These cake slices are available for purchase in different sizes and cover all common cake diameters. The cake slices do not necessarily have to be set to the round form factor, because they are also available in a square shape. The stability and the sizes are the great advantage of the cake slices over a cake plate , especially when decorating cakes . So the entire cake including the cake slice can be filled with fondant are coated and gives off a uniform appearance.

Cake pads

Cake bases, so-called cake boards , are usually a bit thinner. They should protect the cake and the ground from each other. Cake pads are mostly used to move the cake. When making multi-tier cakes, cake pads can also be used to stabilize the individual floors.
