TortoiseHg is a free client for the version control service Mercurial . It is under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
TortoiseHg is implemented as a shell extension. It is integrated in Windows Explorer and Gnome / Nautilus and can therefore be used outside and independently of an integrated development environment .
Version, revision and source control is described as the core task of the software. In order to make Mercurial as easy to use as Subversion on Windows and Linux , the successful Tortoise plug-ins for Subversion and CVS inspired and guided them. So was z. B. the icon set partially taken from TortoiseSVN.
