Company history

Synaptics was founded in 1986 by Federico Faggin and Carver Mead . The original product, TouchPad interface , was released in 1995. The IPO took place in 2002.

Synaptics is one of the first major members of the FIDO alliance , which has been developing the Universal Second Factor (U2F) industry standard for generally applicable two-factor authentication since 2013 .

In July 2017, Synaptics took over the semiconductor manufacturer Conexant .
