Matsushita learned to play soccer on the school team at Kagoshima Jitsugyo High School . He signed his first contract with Gamba Osaka in 2002 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . With the club he became Japanese champion in 2005 . For the club he completed 29 first division games. In June 2006 he moved to league rivals Albirex Niigata . For the club he completed 106 first division games. In 2010 he moved to league rivals FC Tokyo . For the club he completed 21 first division games. In 2011 he moved to league competitor Vegalta Sendai . In 2012 he was runner-up in the J1 League with the club.
