Total Direct Énergie is a French gas company and the third largest electricity company in the country with 2.1 million customers. The company traded under the name Direct Énergie from 2003. In 2018, Total announced that the company would take over 74% of Direct Énergie for a sum of 1.4 billion euros. In September 2018, Total took over all shares in the company through a squeeze-out, and the stock exchange listing was discontinued through a delisting on September 27. After the takeover, the company was changed to Total Direct Energy. Direct Énergie was an advertising partner of Olympique Marseille and sponsor of the cycling team of the same name between 2008 and 2010 . In addition to France, the supplier also operates in Belgium.
