Total Overdose is a computer game released by Eidos Interactive in September 2005 . It appeared simultaneously for Windows , PlayStation 2 and Xbox .
Total Overdose is one of the few titles that came onto the German market without a USK label . The USK refused to be labeled due to the risk of indexing. In early 2006 the game was finally indexed, Eidos decided not to publish it again.
story
The player takes on the role of Ramiro "Ram" Cruz, an agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Together with his brother, he wants to find out who killed his father.
particularities
Total Overdose has some special features. The hero masters so-called ″ Loco-Moves ″ such as the Golden Colt, which quickly eliminates opponents with targeted headshots. The hero also masters a kind of slow motion, with which aiming in jumps can be extremely simplified. The depiction of violence is often ironically exaggerated. In addition, the game world is freely accessible and a large number of side jobs are waiting to be played by the player.
Reviews
Overall, Total Overdose received good reviews. Among other things, the opportunity to play side missions was praised. The wacky game concept also met with largely positive reactions. The old-fashioned graphics and the sometimes exaggerated brutality, as well as the often inhuman remarks of the protagonist, were criticized.
