Death lamp (school gate)
The death lamp in the cemetery in Schulpforte , a district of the Naumburg district of Bad Kösen in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt , was erected around 1268. The early Gothic Lanterns of the Dead is a part of the former Cistercian abbey Pforta a protected monument . The death lamp was destroyed in January 2018 by falling trees from the hurricane Friederike . In May 2019, the restored death lamp was inaugurated again as part of the school festival of the Pforta State School .

The death lamp is a hexagonal chapel with a six-sided truncated pyramid as a roof. It is the only one of its kind from this time in the German-speaking area.
