Totleben (Bulgaria)

Totleben ( Bulgarian Тотлебен ) is a village in the municipality of Pordim in Pleven Oblast in northern Bulgaria . It is located 10 km northeast of Pordim and 25 km east of the city of Pleven on the left bank of the Ossam , a tributary of the Danube . Europastraße 83 runs on the southern outskirts .

The village, in which 539 people lived in an area of ​​32.63 km² in 2011, is named after Count (Franz) Eduard Iwanowitsch von Totleben (1818-1884), a German-Baltic general in the Russian army , who was primarily characterized by his achievements became known in the field of fortress construction and pioneering .
