The Touchdown Hills are up to 500 m high and snow-covered hills in the Prince Regent Luitpold Land of the East Antarctic Coatsland . They tower south of the Vahsel Bay .
It was named in 1957 by participants in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958). It was named after the unintentional landing gear of a Twin Otter equipped with skis after the pilot mistakenly mistaken the hills for a cloud formation.
