The Prinzregent Luitpold Land (also known as the Luitpold Coast ) extends from 77 ° to 78 ° 15 ' south latitude and from 27 ° 54' to 36 ° west longitude on the coast of the Weddell Sea and forms the south-western part from Coatsland . It was discovered by Wilhelm Filchner , head of the Second German Antarctic Expedition of 1911/12, and is named after Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria .

With the exception of three small Nunatak groups ( Littlewood , Bertrab and Moltke Nunataks ), the Prinzregent-Luitpold-Land is completely covered with ice.
