Kaiser-Wilhelm-II.-Land is a sector of the continent Antarctica between the geographic coordinates 87 ° 43 'East and 91 ° 54' East and thus between Cape Penck and Cape Filchner . The area is now claimed as part of the Australian Antarctic Territory of Australia . It was discovered by the German polar expedition under the direction of the scientist Erich von Drygalski on February 22, 1902 and named after the German Kaiser Wilhelm II , who financed the expedition with 1.2 million marks . The stretch of coast is called Kaiser Wilhelm II Coast , English Wilhelm II Coast .

In the south of the bay, where the Drygalskis expedition camped until February 8, 1903, is the 371 meter high Gaußberg , an extinct volcano .
